Halloween Night

Since Halloween lands on Sunday this year, we do trick or treating on Saturday. Our ward was having a party tonight but I am still too sick to go. I have been feeling so bad for my girls. I LOVE Halloween and I'm usually up for all the festivities. This year was different. Luckily my fabulous husband came up with a last minute Halloween Scavenger hunt at Walmart. We were to find:

1. Mutant Neon Fish

2. My Little Pet Zombie Shop

3. Arcane Coloring Book

4. Spiky Crayons

5. Tricky Treats

6. Poisonous Pez

7. 8 Legged Rings

8. Ferocious Fangs

9. Mummy Tissues

10. Witchy Hat

Once we were home with all our finds, we put our newest members of the family in their home. We got 3 goldfish. These fish are the first pets we have ever had. Lauryn has been talking about getting a pet for a while. I think fish will do for now. Here's the photos of bringing Frankie, Frankie, and Spooks home.

Halloween

And if my last post wasn't scary enough..............

Photobucket

(I took this picture of our house the other night. Aren't the colors amazing!? I'm not sure how that happened!)

Sick Days

When mom is sick:

1. You get to stay in your PJ's all day long.

2. You get to leave your hair in a shaggy mess.

3. You get to watch movie after movie.

4. You get to eat all the Halloween candy mom bought for the ward party.

5. You get to play computer, a lot.

6. You get to eat whatever you want for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

7. You don't have to clean up your messes.

Primary Program

Today in church, it was the Primary Program! I look so forward to it every year and especially now that Lauryn is old enough to be in it! I have to admit I was a bit nervous about her being up there for the whole hour. She always has so much energy and I wasn't sure how long she would last. But she did awesome! When it was time for her to speak, she got right up there and belted it out! She said,"Jesus Christ is our Saviour and Redeemer. He died for us so we can live with Heavenly Father again." I was so proud of her, I got all emotional.

Great Job Lauryn! We love you!!

U of I Homecoming 2010

Fall Homecoming, 2010 – by Bryan

Friday night was a little unconventional. It started normal with dinner, picking up the house, pajamas for the kids, teeth brushed… then, around 7:30, somewhere in Moscow, the marching band started playing. The drum core was hitting a fantastic rhythm, followed by a brassy Vandal fight song. As I listened to the cycle repeat a few times, a reckless idea began to form in my mind: Must find the band…

Here I was, mere minutes away from being done: 4 hours of blissful parent time right around the corner. Kids would be in bed, the house picked up; nothing to do but sit down and exhale. A lot. But the idea was gaining momentum: Must find the band! I stared out Kamryn’s upstairs window for about 8 minutes, looking in the direction of the commotion, a fierce inner battle waging inside: Bed vs. Band. Finally “Band” won - I raced downstairs, coats and shoes in hand, and whirl-winded everyone into the car.

We found the band. They were in the street, the entire street. We parked the car, grabbed the kids ( who were very happy that their bedtime had suddenly been upgraded to “marching band” ) and joined the throng.

Our line wove a path about 2 miles long through Greek row. As we passed each house, our followers grew. Soon, there was a sea of students surrounding us and the band. Hundreds of students walked along with us, yelling out vandal pride with the fight song that kept repeating. Lauryn and Brooklyn were ecstatic.

Then we went to the bonfire. That was pretty sweet. We heard them announce homecoming royalty ( colleges do that? ). And as we started packing up to go home, homecoming Friday had one more sweet surprise: Fireworks! I yanked everyone back out of the car, and opened the hatch so we could sit and watch.

Finally, we pulled up in the driveway at 9:45. It was an awesome couple of hours. Needless to say, I was very glad I listened to my “inner kid”

Kate and I learned a couple of things Friday night:

1. We’ll follow a marching band anywhere.

2. “Fireworks Show” is the best way an unplanned family adventure can end.

3. Listen to your inner kid, especially if you have a lot of outer ones!!!

In all honesty, the real reason I went out Friday was because I wanted Lauryn and Brooklyn to have a few amazing memories of our time in College. Sure it’s usually loaded with stress, but college years are also full of exciting opportunities not found anywhere else. Who knows what a 3 and 5 year old can even remember. I’m hoping the good times stick more than the stressful ones. They probably do.

Carmel Apples

My mom and I made carmel apples for a bridal shower last week. It was quite the mess but lots of fun!

Once we dipped them in carmel we learned that if we held them upside down, the carmel would set better. So, we put them in jars!

10.10.10

We went on a walk today and tried to take some family pictures with my tripod. We dressed in our favorite colors and went for it. I thought it would be cool to have a family picture on such a special day. I am so glad that we did it! Happy 10.10.10!

Adventures in COLOR: At the Farmer's Market

Photobucket

We decided to play a game this Saturday morning at the farmer's market. The game was to find every color on the color wheel. Brooklyn looks very pleased here!

Here's the final product!

We found another color wheel of socks!

Finally, something you don't see too often. A picture of me! We had a fun time together finding all the colors! You should do this with your kids too!

Kamryn's Blanket

Kamryn stuffed her blanket:

In the TOILET!!!!!!! Her blanket is pretty much her best friend. So, she wasn't anything less than distraught when I put it in the washer:

In the end I think the spinning of the washer calmed her down.

Brooklyn Cut Her Hair!

Last night I went to Safeway to get some chocolate raisins. {I love them} Bryan was doing a fun Halloween project with the girls while I went. I came home and went to throw something in the garbage. I froze as I noticed several locks of red hair in the garbage. Bryan had no clue she had cut her hair! She conveniently stuffed the evidence in the garbage before he could notice. I told Brooklyn how sad I was and she ran to her bed to cry. She came down appolizing a few minutes later. Here's the aftermath:

Bryan made these sweet mummies with the girls. He used: cereal boxes, paper towels, q-tips, and some old pictures.

No Hair= Hat

Kamryn still has NO hair!!! I know it's not uncommon, I was just hoping it would grow soon. Especially as it's getting cold here in northern Idaho. While Lauryn was in school today the other girls and I went and got Kamryn this new hat! We found it at Old Navy and she loves it! I'm so glad that she doesn't want to rip it off every second!
