2013 Relief Society Birthday Dinner: Bloom Where You're Planted

It's over and done! Our Relief Society Birthday dinner was last night and went better than I had planned, thanks to all those who helped! Being in charge of an event like this can give you stress for a good couple months. Working on it a little bit each day really helped me not feel so over whelmed. And what a better way to deal with the day after an event like that? Blog about it. Then maybe I'll feel like getting my house put back together.....

The theme I choose was, "Bloom Where You're Planted". After a long winter and with hopes of spring on the way, I wanted the night to up lift everyone and just make them smile! Here's what we did:

6:30pm-7pm Served Dinner

Homemade Chicken Salad with Croissants
A Fresh Green Salad
A Simple Fresh Cut Fruit Salad
Potato Salad
Lemon Water

7pm-7:30pm Speakers

We chose two Sisters in the ward to give talks. They did a fabulous job. I couldn't have asked for better speakers!

7:30-8pm Served Dessert

Cupcake sized Cheesecakes with fresh strawberries

Decor-

Mason Jars filled with twigs that I spray painted green and glued 150 cheery blossoms onto! I found the twigs from a neighbor and borrow jars from Sisters in the ward. Another Sister used her silhouette cutter to do all the cherry blossoms.

Origami folded newspaper boxes filled with wheat grass. Here's the video tutorial I got ideas from.  I had the wheat and got newspaper from the recycling center. I also filled the bottom of the boxes with recycled shredded paper.

The table runners were made with brown packaging paper from the dollar store!

The seed packets were fount at the dollar store as well, 4 for a 1$

February

Baby room renovations have started! And did I say,

It's a GIRL!

G &G T came to visit. Here is my sweet dad playing Ponies.

Trip to Spokane for Kamryn's check up and Kira's Birthday!

Happy Birthday Sister!

22 Weeks!

Hit a deer on my way home from an OB appointment in Spokane. So blessed to not have been injured!

All three girls got the seasonal flu. 103 temps, vomiting, and body ache. We caught it in time and they were treated with the medicine called Tamiflu. Here they are all in one room with netflix. It was much easier to care for them all when they were in one space!

Guess who else got the flu? ME! I even had the flu shot but this was a different strain. I was SO> SICK. Since Tylenol was my only way to treat it, I ended up in the ER because I couldn't keep my temp down. I suffered in bed for 2 weeks where it turned to bronchitis. It was awful.

A dear friend of mine asked what she could do for me. I asked her if she could make it spring already. And here's what she brought, SPRING! I carried these around with me for a week!

I got glasses! I can see now!

 We've been getting crafty lately.

FHE= Etiquette Night

Last Monday night for Family night, we decided to hold an etiquette night. I worked hard to make an extra nice dinner so it would be special. Then Bryan and I planned out all the rude and messing things he would to do, to be the bad example. i.e., burping, slurping, rocking in his seat, reaching over people for food, eating other peoples food, wiping food on his shirt, eating with his hands, etc.

I was laughing so hard I could hardly eat! Definitely an FHE the girls remembered and loved.

Sewing 101

Last week while I sat and watched my favorite shows, I cut out tons of hearts! I wanted to have a simple sewing 101 lesson with my girls. When my mom first introduced me to the sewing machine, I can remember her having me follow lines on a piece of paper.

For my girls first lesson I decided to have them sew a heart garland. They LOVED it! They used up all the hearts very quickly. Which was kinda sad because they took me so long to cut out! I think I need a cricket!
