Kamryn's 3rd Birthday

We feel so blessed to have sweet Kamryn in our lives! Her fun loving spirit can make any moment a happy one! We celebrated her birthday after the Pioneer Day celebration. It was a small party but, perfect for a 3rd birthday. Grandpa and Grandma Thompson we able to be with us too! Kamryn wanted a castle cake for her birthday, this is what I came up with. Simple but it works!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful Husband! The big 30!

Today is Bryan's 30th birthday. The girls and I surprised him with 30 things we love about him! He loved the surprise. He said it was better than any gift he could have gotten!

Kamryn's Glasses

Remember the red glasses I originally posted? Well, they weren't staying on Kamryn's face so I tried a different frame. We LOVE this second pair and she loves them too. The first night after she got her glasses, she cried when Bryan took them off. So, he put them in her glasses case and let her sleep with them!

These frames are by a company called Miralfex.

Back To Basics

The last two weeks have been some of the best days of my life. Bryan and I have decided to get back to basics with our life. Starting with throwing out all our processed foods and getting a set number of ingredients to always have in the house. I thought I might feel stressed by this or even worried that I wouldn't have anything to feed my family but, I haven't. I have actually felt liberated! Just knowing that:

I can cook anything I need.

Essentially we have moved to more of a "Whole Foods" diet.

In the last week we have made homemade:

granola
several loafs of bread
veggie pizza
pesto
spaghetti sauce
strawberry jam
hot fudge
chocolate ice cream
vanilla ice cream
strawberry ice cream
creamy basil tomato soup

One cook book that I often refer to was given to me by my sweet Grandmother Watts. Today I thought about her a lot as we made bread and jam. I can remember sitting up on her counter eating her fresh bread and jam. See her:

I miss her dearly and think about her a lot. I was searching for a certain recipe in her Murtaugh cook book when I came across this note. Immediately tears came to my eyes. I love that she called me by my nick name and love that it was signed on this particular piece of note paper.

Love you Grandma and Grandpa

This last Saturday my mother and I woke up early to head up to Green Bluff to pick strawberries. It was a perfect morning! I was so happy I could spend that time with my mother. It was a surreal few hours. We were surrounded by such beauty as we picked and sacked on strawberries.
